چکیده

Antioxidants are chemicals that possess bioactive constituents which usually allow them to fight against free radicals. Antioxidant and phytochemicals properties of the leaves Synsepalum dulcificum were investigated using ethyl-acetate, ethanol methanol extracts. 2, 2-diphenyl-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity, total antioxidant ferric reducing power (FRAP), flavonoid phenolic content was carried out. The phytochemical screening assay done on following: Alkaloids, saponin, flavonoids, tannin, anthraquinones, terpenoids, cardiac glycosides, phlobatannin test solvent results gotten for revealed gave highest extract yield (17.4%) while ethyl-acetate had least (5.0%). At 250 μg/ml concentration, methanolic amount with IC50 values (89.94 μg/ml), followed by (68.20 μg/ml)) ethyl acetate activity (39.21 these significantly different (P<0.05). Total (ascorbic acid equivalent) at S. ranged from 41.7 AAE in 58.98 extract. Furthermore, (FRAP) leaf extracts (0.29μmolFe2+/g) reduction potential, (0.28μmolFe2+/g) (0.26μmolFe2+/g). 0.02μg/ml TAE–0.09μg/ml TAE 1000μg/ml concentration 0.32mg/g QE 14.38mg/g This study suggests exhibit great potential ability could oxidative stress.

Antioxidant activity of extracts of Momordica foetida Schumach. et Thonn.

Momordica foetida Schumach. et Thonn. (Cucurbitaceae) is a perennial climbing herb with tendrils, found in swampy areas in Central Uganda. Antidiabetic and antilipogenic activities were reported for some Momordica species, however the mechanism of action is still unknown. Oxidative stress may represent an important pathogenic mechanism in obesity-associated metabolic syndrome. The present study...
